Job Title: Trainee Paraplanner
Tell us about what your job entails:
My job varies daily but primarily I help our Wealth Managers to prepare recommendations, annual reviews, and maintain client files.
When a Wealth Manager is providing advice to a client, I ensure that they have all the necessary information on file to put together their Wealth Planning report. This involves reviewing and researching a client’s existing products or investments and then outlining our advice in written form as to what we are recommending. Our focus is on making sure the advice is tailored to a client’s unique needs and circumstances whilst also being clear and in line with current regulations.
I am still very new to the role and so my focus is currently on learning the technical aspects of the job and spending time with the Wealth Managers to understand our clients’ circumstances. I am currently taking my CII R0 exams to be a fully qualified paraplanner, however I find learning through work has been the most beneficial to me.
What do you like about being a trainee paraplanner:
I like that the role is varied, and no two days are the same. I also like that I can see the work progress from start to finish. For example, I can start with reviewing a client’s existing circumstances and portfolio and follow the process all the way through to us implementing the advice for them.
What is great about living and working in Cornwall:
I have lived in Falmouth my whole life and love every second. My mum is from Mylor and my dad is from Flushing. The Falmouth community, The Sea Shanty Festival, Falmouth Week and The Oyster Festival are all very special. It’s also amazing that I can finish work and be at the beach within minutes.
Tell us something about yourself:
I enjoy the gym, walking and being outdoors. My friends and I sea swim (in the summer!) and our favourite places to go are Grebe and Flushing beach. If I’m not outside, I’ll be either watching a TV series (currently Desperate Housewives), revising for my upcoming exam or doing some kind of arts and crafts.
