Job Title: Paraplanner

Tell us about what your job entails:

As a paraplanner, I support our Wealth Managers by conducting research and preparing reports and recommendations for our clients. I also collaborate with our Client Services team to implement client work by preparing forms and offering technical support when needed.

Additionally, I contribute to various projects within the company, such as recently assisting in setting up our new Taylor Money Client Portal. My day also often includes resolving any more straightforward IT issues that arise in the office.

What do you like about your role:

When I started in this role, I had very little experience in the world of financial advice. However, beginning as an apprentice allowed me to learn on the job and gradually build my expertise. I have now completed my apprenticeship, hold the CII Level 4 Certificate in Paraplanning, and am progressing with further exams, currently studying for the CII R05 – Financial Protection.

In my day-to-day work, I love the fact that no two clients’ circumstances are the same and the variety this brings. Each bit of work is its own puzzle to solve. I also enjoy supporting my colleagues in the office with my knowledge and technical expertise.

What is great about living and working in Cornwall:

We are fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful part of the world, with warm weather, lovely beaches, and towns full of character. Falmouth, in particular, is a fantastic spot, offering plenty of options for food and drink, regular events like Falmouth Week or the Sea Shanty Festival, and, of course, the nearby beaches and coastal paths.

Tell us something about yourself:

I am actively involved in my local cricket club, St Gluvias in Penryn, both as a player and a volunteer, helping wherever I can. Recently, I have been part of re-establishing youth cricket at the club, which has been exciting. We have grown from five or six children to over 50, and it is rewarding to see some of the graduates progress into adult cricket.

Cricket takes up a lot of time during the summer; once the season ends, I try and get out and about to see gigs and festivals around the country as much as I can.
