Over the years, we have taken on a variety of fundraising challenges, from rowing continuously for 24 hours to spending a day cutting back scrub and woodland for Cornwall Wildlife Trust, and plenty of bake sales in between, all in support of causes that matter to our team.

This year, we have chosen to support the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, with an ambitious goal of raising £10,000 by the end of 2026.

The Challenge

To help us reach our £10,000 target, we will be taking on our most ambitious fundraiser to date: The 100 Mile Hike.

From Monday 21 September to Friday 25 September, we will undertake a relay hike of more than 100 miles along the South West Coast Path. The first team will set off from our office in Falmouth on Monday morning with the goal of the last team reaching St Ives by the end of the week.

The route will take us along some of Cornwall’s most dramatic coastlines, tackling steep climbs, rugged terrain and whatever the Cornish weather decides to throw at us along the way. Covering more than 100 miles is a challenge in its own right, but we are doing it for a cause that means far more to us than sore legs and tired feet.

Along the way, we will be carrying MND Association donation buckets, raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and hopefully collecting a few extra pounds too.

If you would like to support The 100 Mile Hike, you can donate via our JustGiving page.

Here is how we will be tackling the journey over the course of the week:

The map below shows the five stages that will make up our 100-mile challenge:

Why This Matters To Us

We are undertaking our fundraising efforts in support of our colleague Shannon and her partner Sam, and their two young children, who are living with the effects of Motor Neurone Disease.

Sam first began noticing symptoms in early 2025. Following a series of appointments, tests and specialist referrals, Sam was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, specifically Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at the end of last year.

MND is a progressive neurological condition that affects the brain and nerves, gradually impacting a person’s ability to move, speak, swallow and, eventually, breathe. There is currently no cure.

For Sam, Shannon and their family, it has meant adjusting to a new reality and facing changes no family can fully prepare for.

Since Sam’s diagnosis, the MND Association has provided invaluable support to him and his family, helping them access guidance, specialist services and practical assistance throughout their journey.

Through our fundraising efforts, we hope to help the MND Association continue providing this vital support to families like Shannon and Sam’s, while also funding the research that could one day lead to more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

If you would like to donate to MND Association and help families like Shannon and Sam’s access the support and guidance they need, please consider making a donation via our JustGiving page.

How to get involved

If you would like to support our fundraising efforts, we would be incredibly grateful.

You can help by:

If you are unable to take part in the hike itself, you can still get involved by joining us at one of our daily finish points. You would be very welcome to come along and support the team as we complete each stage of The 100 Mile Hike. If you would like to meet us at one of the finish points, please email elishia@taylormoney.com and let us know which location you would like to join us at. We will then keep you updated with the expected finish time for that stage.

Your support can have a real impact. For example:

  • £35 could fund an hour of support from an MND Connect Adviser, helping people affected by MND access essential information and guidance.
  • £100 could provide a voice amplifier, helping someone with MND continue reading to their children as their voice begins to fail.
  • £600 could fund eight counselling sessions for a child learning to cope with the impact of MND on a loved one.
  • £1,500 could help someone with MND remain in their own home for longer through the installation and rental of a stair lift.

For more examples of how your donation can support people living with MND and their families, please see the MND Association’s The Difference You Can Make guide.

Whether you donate, share our campaign or lace up your walking boots and join us on the route, thank you for helping us support a cause that means so much to our team.
