Volunteer Day at Cornwall Wildlife Trust

On a (thankfully) sunny day in April, we headed to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust Headquarters near Allet, Truro to complete a day of volunteer work.

Our task was to help maintain a site called “Ventongimps”, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  The area needs special attention as it is classified as rare Dorset heathland, and is at risk of being overgrown by other more prevalent trees and scrub.

We loaded up with the various hand tools needed to cut back areas of scrub and woodland that were encroaching into the Heathland.

It was a very satisfying day of manual work, with a visit by the grazing herd of ponies who help to keep the land in check, all for a worthy cause.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust have put conservation of our county first for over 60 years, working to conserve wildlife and wild spaces on land and in the sea.

Taylor Money now has a designated charity committee who work to find local charities and ways in which we can help.  Cornwall Wildlife Trust is our first charitable day and we look forward to working with them, and other local charities in the future.
