We have been supporting the St Petroc’s Society for a while now and cannot underestimate the hard work this charity does in helping people into housing.
Homelessness, by definition, is the circumstance whereby someone is left without a permanent dwelling. This can mean all manner of people, professionals, ex-military and otherwise. They may have been left without a home through a marriage breakdown, have mental health issues or many other factors.
As of earlier this year, the official number of rough sleepers in Cornwall had dropped by 31% to 68 people. However, Cornwall is the tenth highest local authority in England for the numbers of people sleeping rough, and there is still work to be done. St Petroc’s provide accommodation and a wide range of services to support and advise the single homeless in Cornwall.
There are many ways you can help us to support St Petroc’s this winter. Their work is invaluable and they need support.
We are not asking you to go out and buy items especially, but if you can spare any of the following, we know they will be gratefully received.
Toiletries – Disposable shavers, shaving gel, shower gel, roll on deodorant
Male and female clothing
Bedding – to include sheets and blankets
Socks, hats and scarves
Cereal bars, bottles of water, cartons of juice
These items can be dropped off at St Petroc’s Society, 8 City Road, Truro, TR1 2JJ between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
